📙📘 Kindergarten Learning: Reading Groups! 📙📘 Our Kindergarten Reading Groups have been full of excitement, discovery, and learning! Our learners have made wonderful progress — learning to read words and sentences with growing confidence. Each week, students have participated in a range of engaging and hands-on experiences that support their reading development. From dramatic play, to fine motor activities that build writing strength, our Reading Groups are filled with fun and purpose. Children have enjoyed phonics games, small group reading, and plenty of opportunities to read for fun, helping them connect sounds, letters, and meaning in many ways. We are so proud of the enthusiasm and effort our Kindergarten learners have shown.

💙🩵 Lets go NSW 💙🩵 Tonight, St Nicholas of Myra will be cheering on the @NSW Blues in the State of Origin decider. Last week, Amos from Year 6 was able to get up close and personal with the NSW stars through his junior Rugby League club. What an experience!

💙💜🧡Grandparents' Day – Term 3, Week 1 💙💜🧡 We are excited to celebrate Grandparents' Day on Friday, 25th July. The day will begin with a special Mass at 9:30am in the church, followed by open classrooms and a picnic lunch. As is tradition, the Book Fair will also be open during the picnic lunch, where students can purchase books for $5 or $10 (EFTPOS). Preorder Option via Qkr! For families unable to attend on the day, preorders for books can be made on the Qkr! App from now until 4:00pm on Tuesday, 22nd July. Books are available for $5 or $10, and students who preorder will receive a sticker and be able to choose a book from the fair. We look forward to a wonderful day celebrating with our school community and families!

💙🧡💜 Grandparents Day Picnic 💙🧡💜 "There where you are, You will find God". St Mary of the Cross MacKillop's words were very evident on the school playground as students, Grandparents and families gathered for the Grandparents Day Picnic and Book fair. Thank you to all our visitors, teachers and students that made our day such a success.

✝️ Grandparents Day Mass ✝️ The St Nicholas of Myra community on the Feast of St Anne and St Joachim to celebrate our wise and wonderful Grandparents. As Father Rojan put it, being a Grandparent is a promotion to a babysitter and giver of chocolate, but most importantly, a pillar they can lean on to help find God in their lives. 💙🧡💜 Happy Grandparents Day to all 💙🧡💜

👡👢👟 Stage 3 Learning: Other Worldly Shoe Sculptures 👡👢👟 Our creative Stage 3 students stepped into the world of surreal design by exploring the fascinating work of sculptor Costa Magarakis, known for transforming everyday objects—especially shoes—into extraordinary, whimsical creations. Inspired by his imaginative style, students were challenged to design their own “otherworldly shoe”, combining elements of fantasy, storytelling, and functionality. They brainstormed ideas, sketched plans, and considered the story behind their shoe—What world does it belong to? Who would wear it? What purpose does it serve? From roller coasters and rainforest waterfalls to flower pots and volcanoes, each student brought a unique vision to life. The final designs were bold, creative, and bursting with imagination. We are so proud of the originality and thought put into every creation—true examples of thinking “a step beyond” the ordinary!

Stage 2 Learning In Religious Education students have been learning all about the Fruits of the Spirit. Students reflected on how each fruit is a gift from God to help us live like Jesus. In Creative Arts, students have been exploring Aboriginal Art and looking at the signs and symbols and what they mean. They have created a boomerang and other artworks using these styles.
